Last week President Barak Obama announced his intention to run for the 2012 presidential re-election. The Republicans have a list of possible presidential nominees from the House and Senate along with a few state governors. The names range from the well known and controversial Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney to the less well known and more centrist Chris Christie and Tim Pawlenty. Recently the loudest and most visible republican hopeful has been Donald Trump. For the past couple of weeks he has been on any and every television talk show that will have him and discusses the nature of Obama's American citizenship. (see below) "The greatest con in history," Trump declares unhesitatingly. Is this true? Did the Democratic party find a Muslim Kenyan Senator to run for president of the United States of America? Or is it possible Donald Trump knows an opportunity for self promotion when he sees one. What do you think? Who will run against the incumbent? After a mid-term election trouncing by the republicans and Tea party politicians will the office go back to the the other side of the aisle. Who would you like to see run and why? What would be best for America? Please the opinions of others when you blog.
With all of the past controversies and scandals with American presidents, Trump may be right about Obama's citizenship; but that has already been brought up in the last election in which Obama won, despite his shady heritage and beliefs. Most of all, I think Trump is looking for a little self promotion and a little time in the spot light. It is possible that the office may go to the hands of republicans as people might put the blame of the economy on democrats. What would be best for America is if we found a very headstrong presidential candidate who is looking to better America and not get caught in all the politics.
ReplyDeleteBeing such a successful business man, Trump definitely knows how to get ahead. I think that all of the controversies surrounding the president are just silly because it is too late to do anything about it now, obviously the nation deemed him worthy of the job despite the controversies. It is really too soon to tell what exactly will happen in the future but I'm sure whatever does happen there will be many controversies about that too.

ReplyDeleteWell, it's not like it can get much worse than Obama, so help me God if he's our president another four years. I think Donald Trump would actually be a really good leader because he's not in it for the politics. He's one ofht ebest businessmen the US has seen in a long, long time; and that's what we need now. ...Or in 2012. He'd be a promising choice to help our country out of its huge debt. Regardless of any qualifications they might have, Sarah Palin definitely and Mitt Romney probably just wouldn't win if they ran in the 2012 race. No one knows who will win the next election; I just hope it's not Obama again. He has gotta go.
ReplyDeleteas long as Palin doesn't win, i'n happy.
ReplyDeleteObama is the right choice for America. The notions that people said about Obama not being an American citizen is crazy! He was born in Hawaii to a American mother and oh my god a Kenyan father. This is like saying John McCain isn't an American citizen because he was born in Panama on a military base but oh wait he's still an American. His religion is no problem either. He is a christian and that is that. Just because his father was born in Africa and is a muslim does not mean he his one as well. His father left his mother early in his life, before he was five I believe. Now that we have this nonsense out of the way we can get to the real question and the only question that matters. Obama 2012? Yes or no? I would say yes, only if Obama does not keep laying down to the Republicans This is the only way things can get done in the white house. The senate will stay in the hands of the Democrats and hopefully the house will make Democratic gains as well. This will allow for the government to actually get something done and will hopefully get America out of these two wars which should never have happened. Time will tell what will happen. If the people vote Obama in or if they vote in a Republican in that is their doing and their right. I know I will do everything I can to help Obama and whoever his VP will be win this election and every other Democrat trying to run for office. As for the Republican opponent, I see either Tim Pawlenty or Mitt Romney becoming the front runners. It will make me extremely happy to see either former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin or Congresswoman Michele Bachmann run for the presidency because this will ensure a victory for Obama. Well as I stated before we will see what happens twenty months from now. We may have the incumbent win, a Republican victory or a possible third party candidate mystify the American public and win. Who knows what will happen. I still think it is funny that Republican's blame this deficit on Obama when it was the Republican president who got America in this situation in the first place. Just my opinion thought so take it with a grain of salt.

I think obama should just stay the president . i dont like trump and it seems like he always wants to be right and he never lets anyone talk . i felt bad by the reporter becuase as she wanted to say something he was like "excuse me excuse me" like he wouldnt even let her give her sympthny without arguring about it or letting her finish.. yes obama might not be from hawii but has he messed up the country yet? bomb us? or has he tryed to help us? he is the one
i think obama is doing a fine job at being president. i do not think trump will be a good president at all. the controversy about obama and his citizenship was brought up last election. that did not stop him from winning and over coming the odds. trump is obvioulsy doing this for self promotion in my opinion. i think he needs to start explaining to the public why he thinks he will be a good president, instead of talking about obama.
ReplyDeleteI believe Donald Trump has the means to run, enough capital and know how but he doesn't have the support Obama does. He won't get voted in, and on what Trump says about Obama's citizenship it has been proven that he is a citizen so there is no argument there.
ReplyDeleteI think that president obama is doing a good job i don't think they should switch presidents and Donald Trump will run but i dont think he will win because he doesn't have what obama has like his support and stuff.
ReplyDeleteIn 1996 Steve Forbes ran in the republican primary and didn't win. I see Trump in a similar situation. Like Ricky said, he has the means, but probably not the support. So, based on past events I would have to guess that Trump doesn't have much of a chance. But then again, the American people really do seem to a have a thing for change:)
ReplyDeleteRunning America is running a large business. The nation has gone through several CEO's, each one running the business differently. I don't doubt that Trump has the right motives to run the country, but will most likely not get the support. I don't i would feel okay with having a celebrity be our nation's next elected leader. I believe President Barack Obama should stay president for another four years. Trump is problaby trying to get into the spotlight by creating a scandle that way people get to know him better so he can be heard; but Obama's citezenship has been brought up before and he still won election sooo why bring it up again? I'm sure that if Obama wasn't born in the U.S., then he would not be president. In order to even run as president, there would have had to have been extensive background checks, and obviously everything worked out because he's now our nation's leader. Donald Trump is known for being very sucessful, he knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to take on challenges. I think this is a touchy issues in terms of a lot of people wanting proof that Obama really is certified for the job, but I also believe Trump is just adding to the issue, rather then accepting the fact that we have a black president who intends to help America all that he can, just like all the other presidents before him. I don't mind who runs in the new election, as long as they have good morals and intend to keep their promises and make the right changes for America and its people.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that people are still bringing up the whole birth certificate issue. I don't think that Trump would make a good president, and I think that he is just doing this to get promotion.
ReplyDeleteMany see the condition that the nation is and they blame Obama for it. The problem with this is that Obama came into the presidency during a time when the economy was at its worst. No person would want to be in the situation that he is in.
Regarding republican candidates, I would like to see Sarah palin run just because it is a sure thing that she will not win. She might provide some humor to the presedential campaign with all her nonsense. I also agree with the other bloggers, if a republican wins the presidency I am okay with it aslong as it isn't her.
I want Trump as our next president, we need someone who knows how to run the country like a business. His success represents the American Dream at its best and more importantly he represents what America was built on, capitalism.
ReplyDeleteI think that birth certificates are important because there is no proof that Obama is born in the U.S. I am not saying he is plotting against America but it is the rule. Donald Trump would probably make a better presisdent than obama.
ReplyDeleteI think Donald Trump is just a racist politicion who wants to become president one way or another. Obama is a good president who i would vote for if he ran for re-election. He has done no harm to the United States, in the other hand he has try to help us become a better country.

The whole video with Trump just seemed annoying to me. He spends an awfully long time repeating that a certificate of live birth is not the same as a birth certificate. I have not done any research on the matter, but I don't doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii. Trump's interview did seem like a pathetic attempt at self-promotion. He may be a good businessman, but that doesn't mean he will be a good president. If he wants to gain support, he will need to start focusing on what he will do to help our country and why he would be the right person for the job.

Donald Trump would be an exceptional president, like many of the other bloggers have stated. He is straightforward and a successful business man. I don't have anything against Obama either only because I choose to not pay attention to politics. But from what I see and hear, Obama is known to be making a difference in America. Yes, Obama has the experience as a president and leader of America, but who knows if he really knows what he is doing. Trump doesn't have the experience as a presidential leader, but he does have the experience of a very powerful and well known leader. Either candidates would be fitting. Donald Trump is absolutely correct in his accusations. We have an illegitimate president in the White House who is obviously hiding something. Where’s his birth certificate? Where are his college transcripts? How about his medical records?
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to presidential candidates, Herman Cain is the man. He’s a businessman, an intellectual, and a strong conservative. I would also love to see Allen West of Florida, a true American hero and patriot, run for office.
(Sloan P.3/Bauer P.4)
I think Trump's accusations are completly unfounded and he is just trying to gain attention. I don't know who will come up in the Republican party, but I know Palin doesn't have a chance due to all her theatrics she has pulled in the last 4 years. I think the race for the 2012 president will be close if the Republicans can find a strong candidate.
ReplyDeleteI think Trump would actually be a good president. He knows how to work a business and is very good at it, this country needs to be ran like a business. Yes, Obama has been a decent president but he just isnt getting the job done. Something needs to be changed.
ReplyDeleteI honestly doubt that President Obama would be able to con his way into office without being a US citizen. He shouldn't have to flaunt his birth certificate around to prove he is a natural born US citizen. I think that Donald Trump is stuck on this topic for publication purposes. If the American citizens believe that there is something scandalous about Obama, then the Republicans would have a better chance in getting a candidate in office.
ReplyDeleteDevin Smith, Mr. Bauer, P.1.
I think Donald Trump would make a better president then Obama. He knows the economy and how to make jobs. Thats what he does for a living and that is what our economy needs.
ReplyDeleteI think that they are making a big issue about where Obama was born. IS this really that important or they just dont want to focus on more serious issues? If they had doubts about were he was born, then why did they choose him as president? Overall, i think that Obama is doing a great job as president. In my opinion I really dont care where he was born, as long as he does well on his four year term as president.
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump seems to know what he is talking about but i dont think he'd make a good president. He would probably end up like Schwarzenegger just a celebrity icon at head of office. America should just leave things the way they are and be more concerned about economic and social issues than where Obama was born in.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't think that Obama is a bad president because he has kept us though a really hard time right now and for him to take all that kind of pressure well it takes allot of calmness and toleration and that some thing that i think Donald Trump does not have and any way during this economic crisis we are going though it really hard to make big changes but , it really hasn't gotten out of control therefor i think Obama isn't so bad .

ReplyDeleteI think that it would be a very interesting election If Donald trump ran for president. Obama may not win the re-election unless he gets as many votes as he did in the last election. The republican party currently has multiple candidates while the democratic party has fewer well know people running. Donald trump is already trying to win people votes at the expense of the current president. Trump may not know everything about politics but he is good at buisness

All I hope is that Obama loses and people see what is really going on and dosn't just hear what all the left wing media puts on tv. Taking Harry reid with him out of office wouldn't be so bad either.
Donald Trump seems to be a successful businessman, but the nation isn't really a business. He might be able to help the economy, but what will his social policies be like. I have nothing against Obama and i think the whole deal about his birth certificate is just an irrelevant scandal. He has proved to be a worthy president and i don't understand why he is criticized so much. people should know by now that the president does not control everything. It is hard to follow an agenda when you are constantly clashing with the opposing party. Now about Donald Trump. He has shown to be a very successful businessman, but I believe it takes more than that to be president. I have serious doubts as to why he is thinking of running for office. Is it for his the country or his wallet? I would hate to see the U.S turn into more of a corporate run country than it already is, and having a prevalent businessman like Trump at the head wouldn't really help. Corporate-America is not the way to go. I would really like for Ron Paul to be the republican candidate. Ron Paul's views on foreign affairs and the economy is what the U.S needs right now. We need to stay out of other countries and worry about our own. Ron Paul is very experienced in politics unlike Mr. Trump who has no political experience. Ron Paul is very straight forward about his view on things. Many times he has opposed his own party on controversial issues such as the patriot act. Thats the kind of president we need, a stubborn president who will follow his agenda.
I don't think that Obama is not so bad he has done ok so far any way he ran for president during the worst time and to do that he had to know exactly what he was getting into and Trump really does not see like he could handle the economic problem

I can't say that I would enjoy any Republican running. If Donald Trump or Sarah Palin end up running, that party will end up looking like a complete joke. Donald Trump shouldn't attempt to run for anything because he has no idea how to interact with a human being. All he can do to interact with anyone is say "You're fired." I guess I would want whoever is most compitent to run against Obama because if they were to win, I would like to know that we are at least getting a sane person to run the government. Overall Obama is doing fine in office, except for the Lybia mess we are in now. He will continue to be fine for the next four years.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there may be other names running against Obama, I believe the American people are more familiar with the name Trump and among other things, he definitely has this going for him. I can't say exactly who I would like to see win because I don't believe I follow politics well enough to do so. I also don't see it as 'just' for me to be a parrot and repeat all that my parents have told me in order to answer the question. I CAN say though that because of such a bandwagon effect, I don't see Obama or Palin, two other big names, having very high chances in the race since so many have come to dislike them, or at least think they dislike them. After so much 'talk' from Obama, when Americans see interviews such as this, I think they are going to appreciate and be attracted to Trump's straightforwardness. Many people also know that Trump is the businessman above all businessman and with the current oil situation, it would seem he may know a thing or two about negotiating us out of our suffering. For the reasons stated, if I had to choose a president with the little information I am familiar with, I would indeed choose Mr. Donald Trump for the position.

Like first off, I barely know anything about either of them and then I dont even understand half of all that election crap. If Trump is going to run and Obama, may the best man win. And when it gets closer to that time to vote, maybe I'll actually start caring more and try to understand.
Trump vs Obama would be something to see, but it is not going to happen. First of all, Trump comes from a sorta shady past. Although he is very compatible with the position, he is just too much of a loved to be hated star to survive. On the other hand I never have supported Obama and I don't think he was born in the US. Obama has a reputation for underhand politics and doing whatever he wants to do with the United States image. I would not loose any sleep over that one. In conclusion I think trump would be the best for the job, but I don't think it would work out.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Obama should run again yet there are those that will go against Obama. It's really unfair though since Obama was left with a presidency that was in great debt and problems, also was left with a great national debt. Also take in mind that Obama is not the only one making the choices, they really need to stop bagging on the guy since he's human and can't see the future and decide what will be best for the future. Also Donald trumph is dumb and not even his money makes him any better and maybe he's just making crazy accusations because he needs the attention. However the truth is, Obama will unfortunately more then likely be eleted again if unemployment lowers or stays relatively stable. So expect out of control spending and high taxes. Change all right.

Donald Trump... Really thats a bigger joke than Sarah Palin. Obama is the perfect fit for america. people dont like him because they expect him to change everything at the snap of a finger. Trump has no right to make the comments he did about Obama and he is definitely using it to boost his popularity.
ReplyDeleteI think that in the position he is in, Obama is doing the best he can and I don't think that someone else would do that much of a better job. Obama didn't create the recession, he is just trying to deal with it. However, I think that there's a possibility people will consider not reelecting Obama because of the economic times. Trump is just seeking things from Obama like how he talks about his birth certificate. It's going to be a good challenge but yet possible however Obama needs to step up a bit more and prove himself better for what he can do.

A lot of people are impatient when it comes to Obama fixing the economy which is why they would not re-elect him to become president again. I think Trump has what it takes to become president because of his management with money. -G.Lathipanya Sloan2
ReplyDeleteI think all politicians suck and Trump being a businessman is probably no different. I have just registered to vote under "decline to state" I will wait until the primaries to pick my candidate it's too early in the race.
ReplyDeleteAmericans took a risk with Obama and all his change talk, but I havent noticed much of a difference, so I think he shouldn't be re elected, Donald trump is a straight up guy who will make noticeable changes that will occur in his term, not in 100 years like all of obamas changes.
ReplyDeleteObama may have a shady past, trump may love the spotlight...but Palin is simply put, an idiot. she has no idea what she's doing. I would prefer obama not be president if there's someone better, but i will be happy as long as palin doesn't win.

I do not care about this right now. There is still two years before we vote for the next president. It is too early to be listening to it, candidates already starting to talk they can not possibly keep the same story for two years.

It's hard to believe thatb our own president wouldn't tell everyone where he was born and is so secretive about showing his birth certificate. It would be shocking to know that he is lying to everyone of not being born in the U.S. Who knows though too because trump could just be looking at being the center of attention to make himself look good for running in this upcoming election. Incumbents do this all the time to one another. I wouldnt mind who becomes our next president as long as their suitable in taking actions to better our country and get us out of this huge deficeit.
ReplyDeleteI think Donald Trump should be elected. He would be a good president. I don't want Sarah Palin to become president.

It is still so early in the campain that I really have not paid attention to candidates. I think Trump is insane, I do not believe Palin is presidential material at all, and I know nothing about other Republican hopefuls. Obama will win a second term, there is no way to defeat him.

ReplyDeleteI honestly dont like either one as president. Who ever can get us out of our economic troubles, would be the president. But, Trump should not become president, and Obama should not recieve another term. We need someone new, who will actually benefit our country.
ReplyDeleteTrump would know how to deal with the business side of being president, but i am not sure about the social side, seeing as he questioned obama's citizenship. I honestly dont believe trump is humble, or quit smart enough to be a successful president, he lacks many characteristics that our successful presidents have had in the past.

I dont really care about this right now because the next election is still really far. I am happy that the president released his birth certificate so now everyone should know the real truth. i wouldnt really care who the next president is but i hope it is Obama again.

Although obama has had his moments of weakness, he cannot get everything done. we should all know how difficult it is to get anything done in our government. However, if he does plan on creating change soon he'd better get a backbone and not just give in. As for Trump and Palin, they can go home. I'm so over these reality television personalities thinking they're what's best of the nation.
ReplyDeleteI think people are just too quick to judge nowadays.Honestly, obama is doing a good job and we just need to give him a chance to prove what he can do for our country. Just because you hear the name Trump doesnt mean he will necessarily be a better choice for presidency.

For what i see, Donald Trump would make a good president because of what hey knows and has achieved. For example,he knows howto run a buisness and deal with money problems that would come in handy because of debt.Seems like he can change something for our economy. In my opinion he should go for presidency after Obamas term.

After Trump's embarassment with his birth certificate scandal, I don't think that he will be the final republican nominee. Considering how many people feel that Sarah Palin is a joke, I don't think that the Republicans would choose her either. I personally do not have an opinion yet about who should run the country.

i believe obama isnt right for our country. He says things and makes them sound better than they are, and he says he is going to take care of things when he doesnt. As long as Sarah Palin doesnt become president i dont care whatsoever. i agree with samantha white ^^.
ReplyDeleteI personally think Trump is arrogant and thinks too highly of himself. Does he have concrete proof that the president isn't a born citizen? I don't think so. He thinks, since he has money, he can run his mouth and say what he wants. I will be able to vote next presidential election and he will definitely not be my choice. I want to see someone actually care about this country and want to make a positive change. Let's hope, for America's sake, that someone who fits that description will be on the ballot 2012.
ReplyDeleteWith what Trump aroused, I believe that Trump only want's to become president at all possible costs, because of this I believe that he only wants the title of being president and nothing else, I don't think that he will benefit the United States, and as for Obama, I believe that he tried his best for president, but didn't succeed as much as he planned he didn't better the economy, but he also didn't bring it down, a second term might not be successful either.

First of all i wouldnt like to see this guy name trump run for president bacuse he seems racist and also because his just trying to get popular to run for president. This guy focusses to much on peoples problems. The think Trump soppose to be focussing on is on his own problem in getting into other peoples buissness.

i think barrack obama should run for re election because i think he is keeping this country in good condition. honestly he isnt helping the country tat much, but on the other hand, he isnt making it worse. i think obama sould be president again becasue no one else seems like they can take this position and do as good as he is. he is doing an alright job.

Having the birth certificet was good because it put people out of their questions, and to finally move on. And now we know that Obama is born american. As for Donald trump i think he would be a good runner up for next president against Obama. People have posted good points of why he should be the next president. We shall kust have to see.
ReplyDeleteFrom reading the blogs above, i do believe that Obama will win the next election. Trump doesn't sound like he will be strong enough to take on the country. Obama could try to fix things but with this economy i hope hes doing the best he can.
ReplyDeletei believe that Donald Trump running for president for more attention. He is more of a business man and i don't believe he knows anything about being the president of the United States. I believe Obama has a small chance for reelection but if he doesn't show improvement for this country i find it hard to believe that he will be elected again.

There is honestly no way that Donald Trump running is anything but another business statement. And president obama running for president again in the next election is really no big shock. He wants to keep trying to fix the econmy and other various things. I say Obama, have at it. Joeliane Muegge. Sloan p.5
